Irene Sasaki is a graphic designer and typography enthusiast, who also loves traditional 2D animation and games. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Architecture and Urbanism from University of Sao Paulo. She is passionate about design, strategy and creative thinking, and believes that exploring a multidisciplinary background is a great way of learning to perceive design from different viewpoints.

As an architect experienced with designing signage & wayfinding systems and environmental graphic design projects, she uses her architectural understanding to provide critical interpretation of spaces and to guide the appropriate use and application of graphics in the environment, considering each specific building design and human use. She was a member of the wayfinding system project for Jardim Pamplona Shopping in Sao Paulo, a 22.000sq.m development of Property Division, institution responsible for the management of Carrefour Group's real estate assets.

She worked as an UI designer on the game Planetary Plan C, one of the winners of the Gamesauce Challenge, which awarded the ten best projects developed in IGDA Global Game Jam 2011. It was the only selected game from South America, receiving more than 11,000 views in less than 3 days. She also has experience with traditional 2D animation, having worked as a clean-up artist in Lightstar Studio's animation feature Rio 2096: A Story of Love and Fury, winner of the Crystal Award at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival 2013.

Irene's goal with the MDM program is to live through a rich experience by being exposed to many different subjects and people that will exercise teamwork, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. She hopes to discover and experience something new, and further advance her career into UX and game design.
