Lauren grew up practicing both film and digital photography in San Diego, California. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in art at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she also befriended a group of game design majors and learned the fundamentals of programming, game design, and chair jousting. After she graduated, she worked on the 3D modelling program modo as a QA engineer in Redwood City, California.

She’s particularly interested in worldbuilding, especially as it applies to spatial and environmental design. The MDM program promised practical training in using art to create better ways for people to interact with both the real and virtual worlds around them. She has strong opinions on the Oxford comma.
