Phong arrived in Vancouver in 2018 as a new immigrant under the Startup Visa program. He brings along with him a unique perspective from Asia and an immense passion for digital media—developed after spending more than two decades in marketing.

Over the course of 13 years working in corporate and six years running his own marketing agency, Phong has experience conducting many successful brand campaigns for a variety of industries. This including: Heineken beer, Tiger beer, Clear Shampoo, OMO detergent, Philips Home appliance, Castrol lubricant and many other small brands and businesses in Vietnam and Indochina. To catch up with the emerging digital media technology, Phong has reinvented himself over the last 10 years integrating different skill sets such as: web design, 2D design and digital marketing. With his extensive experience in project management and newly improved digital media skill set, Phong now strives to set the bar in every campaign he is involved in.

As an entrepreneur, Phong joined the Master of Digital Media (MDM) program in the early stages of starting his own tech-startup. In the months coming, Phong hopes to apply what he learns from the program itself, professors, classmates and students the in’s and out’s to successfully bring his startup to life. In addition, Phong hopes to expand his digital media experience in North America as he believes it to be the most advanced digital media market in the world. Furthermore, Phong aims to better understand programming and to advance his technical and software skill set.
