IDEA-X, a Multi-Discplinary Program with the CUC, Launched at the Centre for Digital Media

IDEA-X, Immersive Digital Experience Academic Program, is a collaborative project between the prestigious Communication University of China (CUC) and the award-winning Masters of Digital Media (MDM) Program at Vancouver’s Centre for Digital Media (Great Northern Way Campus). The Centre for Digital Media is hosting nine students (six women and three men) and Professor Bai from the CUC.

This four-week intensive, cross-cultural and multimedia training program was specifically designed for the undergraduate students of the CUC’s School of Animation who wanted to explore Canadian education and career opportunities in the international games and digital entertainment industry. The students will participate in a series of professional development and language training workshops, as well as attend industry networking events and “Taste of BC” social activities.Throughout, there will be opportunities for digital media knowledge transfer between the CUC and MDM students.

IDEA-X culminates in a final presentation where teams will pitch their game prototypes and animation creations (built in less than four weeks) to a Dragon’s Den panel of industry representatives and graduating MDM students.  This presentation will be live streamed to their CUC peers in China.

IDEA-X will be held from March 25-April 24, 2010 at the Centre for Digital Media.  This program, the first in a series, will be rolled out to other universities in China and abroad. Click here for more information
