IIT, the "MIT of India," Visits the Centre for Digital Media

On June 16, the Centre for Digital Media hosted a delegation of students from the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), considered the "MIT of India", as part of the MITACS Globalink Program. Globalink is an exciting internship program that integrates world leading research with interactive professional skills training and exposure to Canada’s top industrial innovators. IIT students are the best and brightest engineering and technology-oriented minds in India and the perfect candidates to participate in this internship program that places the undergraduates in universities and companies across Canada.

Included in the Globalink calendar of events was a visit to the Centre for Digital Media, home of the Masters of Digital Media (MDM) Program. MDM students and graduates were delighted to share with the IIT delegation their experience with the MDM master’s program, the cutting edge projects they were currently working on and the companies they started after MDM.  In turn, the IIT delegation relayed their experiences from India.

For the IIT delegation this was their first visit to Vancouver. Now, with connections to local students, graduates and business, as well as a better understanding of Vancouver’s digital media landscape, it’s unlikely it will be their last.
