Man Up! student web project wins 2011 W3 award

The International Academy of Visual Arts (IAVA) recently awarded the Man Up Canada! project Silver for its 6th Annual W3 Awards. Congratulations to MDM alumni Al Sinoy, Tony Cheung, Jordan Braun, Daniela Pichardo, Andrew von Rosenbach, Taylor Kachmarski, Ryan Klesc, and Nick Lewis, who worked on the project.

The W3 Awards honours creative excellence on the web, and recognizes the professionals behind award winning sites, videos and marketing programs. The W3 is sanctioned and winners selected by IAVA, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from a "Who's Who" of acclaimed media, interactive, advertising, and marketing firms.

The Man Up project had its start with Dr. Larry Goldenberg, head of both MHIBC and the Department of Urology at UBC, who encountered challenges getting the message out about men’s health to males aged 18-35 year old. Once brought onboard, the project team made creative use of infographics, animation and video to update the message for this demographic - including production of a 30-second video screened on the Jumbotron at a Vancouver Canucks game.
