MDM Alumni Startup Shailah Interactive Wins Discovery Parks Generator Challenge

Feb 27, 2012 By webdev

Shailah Interactive - a mobile education apps development company founded by MDM Program Graduate Erez T. Yanuv Barzilay - was among eight new start-up businesses selected to earn a full year of free office space in the Discovery Parks' Generator Incubation Centre.

The City of Vancouver's second Discovery Parks Generator Challenge recently awarded the company with over 1,000 square feet in the Centre, located adjacent the Centre for Digital Media’s Great Northern Way Campus. "Having been granted the support of the City of Vancouver and the Discovery Foundation, we are looking forward to advance even faster in the coming year. This is an incredibly huge boost of support for us with many more doors to open and opportunities to come by," says Barzilay. Shailah will occupy the new space from March 2012 to the end of February 2013.

Shailah Interactive will use the new space to continue looking at changing the way mobile content is being consumed by adding touchless-control software specially designed, researched, and developed to assist children facing severe autism, cognitive, and developmental challenges.

In addition to Barzilay, the Shailah Interactive design and development team include: user interface designer Edouard Sitbon, Unity3D experts Luke Johnson, Josh Kho and Fouad Hafiz (all three 2010 MDM alumnus!), and Nelson, BC-based composer Ben Euerby. There is no doubt these former MDM students will feel right at home in their new space.
