MDM Graduate Student Sagar Datta Brings Successful Industry Experience To Master's Program
Kudos to Vancouver’s Masters of Digital Media (MDM) student Sagar Datta. Two mobile games, IPL T20 and Arjuna - The Greatest Warrior, he helped design when working for Synqua Games, have recently hit the Annual Top Five Download List in India and ranked second in Vietnam, respectively. Prior to joining the MDM Program, Sagar worked as a Junior Game Designer for the successful Indian-based game company.
IPL T20 cracked Airtel Mobiltude’s 2009 Top Five List of Downloaded Games in India. This annual ranking is based on feedback from more than 116 million mobile users. The game features a variety of realistic and explosive batting shots based on the Twenty 20 form of cricket.
Arjuna – The Greatest Warrior, a mobile game based on the epic Indian mythic warrior, is currently the number two game in Vietnam. As the embodiment of Arjuna, gamers set out on a quest to assemble an arsenal of divine weapons to give the Pandavas, the five sons of Pandu, an edge in the inevitable war of Mahabharata.
“I am very proud of Arjuna. Not only was it my very first game, but it was an amazing opportunity to work with a team of highly professional people driving the limits of mobile game technology”, said Sagar Datta, a first year student in the MDM Program. “As for IPL T20, I clearly remember an abundance of creative energy as we worked towards a tight deadline.”
Sagar, who brings his industry knowledge and experience to MDM, chose this graduate degree program in order to cement his leadership and creative skills in becoming a successful game developer and producer. With the proven success of Arjuna and IPL T20, coupled with the amazing work he is currently doing, Sagar is well on his way of achieving his goal.
