The Centre for Digital Media will be a quieter place for the next four months as students begin their paid internships. They are currently filling positions ranging from Project Managers and Assistant Producers to Social Media Community Animators, and Virtual World Technologists. This is an impressive list of job titles at an equally impressive number of companies here in Canada and abroad.
Locally, in the digital media hub of Vancouver, they have secured internships with the likes of EA, Radical, Relic, InTransit BC, Threewave Software, Mobile MUSE, and the UBC Fisheries Centre. Internationally, students are in Singapore at the Nanyang Technical University and in Spain with Telefonica.
The variety of projects the students will be working on is a reflection of the multi-talented student class. They will create virtual worlds, immerse themselves in motion capture, delve into games such as EA’s FIFA ’09 (Wii, PS3, & XBOX 360), push the boundary of 3D visualizations, build massive, multiplayer online (MMO) mobile games and nurture social networks.
Throughout their four month internship, several students will be blogging about their experience. Be sure to check in for their regular updates.
