Throughout the MDM program, David participated in some great projects as the Technical Lead, including IDEASS—which aimed to innovate new technologies to inform integrative decision-making crucial to the planning and design of sustainable communities—and Open Health Initiative—a project that examined the principles of open source and its applications to healthcare.

Kareem Negm, a fellow cohort member and friend, had this to say:
All I can say is, without David, my transition from Dubai to Vancouver would've never been the same. In a time where friendships are fleeting, chivalry is non-existent, and generosity is a rarity, David extended his hand, offered his time, and bridged so many gaps for me. Going to Japanese Izakayas will never be the same without David. I'll never forget his laughter, or how surprised he would get at how much I could eat. I also won't forget how he brought treats to our project room every day and showed a level of patience, professionalism, and respect that is still talked about years after we graduated.
David, my brother, I love you. Hope you're in a better place."
Our thoughts are with David’s friends and family at this time.
