Thank you for your interest in the Master of Digital Media program.

We understand and appreciate the time involved in completing this application. Admission into the Master of Digital Media Program is competitive, so we encourage you to take your time and submit your best work. While the application process is straightforward, there are several forms and documents that need to be completed and submitted before your application can be reviewed. Before you begin your application, carefully review the MDM Admission Requirements.

Please be advised that while the MDM degrees are awarded by all four academic partner institutions, the designated administrator of the program is Simon Fraser University (SFU) while a student completes their degree requirements. All students of the MDM program are full-time registered students of SFU.

Application Process

To apply to the MDM program, you will need to complete the following steps.

Online Application Form

This includes payment of a non-refundable application fee of $90 for Canadian transcript student applications or $125 for international transcript student applications (PLEASE NOTE: This portion of the MDM Program application is facilitated online by Simon Fraser University, Office of the Dean of Graduate Studies. All submitted applications are reviewed by the Graduate Program Committee composed of representatives from all four of the Centre for Digital Media's academic partners)

Complete and submit the following supplementary documents and forms through the SFU System. All of the following materials must be uploaded. The MDM Admissions office will not accept mailed, hard copy versions.

    Upload up to five digital samples or works that best demonstrate your skills in digital media. You can draw from a wide range of items including exhibited art, designs, film or video, computer software code (please include and document at least 100 lines of original code that you created), engineering designs or some other product that resulted from your previous work. Please include a 250 - 500 word summary explaining how the items in the collection relate to each other and to your strengths. If an item is a collaborative effort, please clearly state your role in its production.

    (a) explaining your motivation for selecting this degree program (b) summarizing relevant skills, training and experience; (c) describing proposed interests within the program and (d) indicating how the course of study would contribute to your future intellectual or professional growth. All of the above points should be explicitly addressed in the letter of intent.

    The topic of the essay must relate to digital media.

    There will be a section in the online application form, where you will be required to enter your referees' e-mail addresses. This will trigger an e-mail to each referee that will include a unique link, directing them to a site where they may submit their reference letter.

    An overall summary of your professional achievements.

  • Mail IconOfficial Transcripts

    Transcripts must be issued from the institution and remain sealed. If they are opened we cannot accept them as an official copy. Please mail them to the mailing address below and ensure that you have submitted transcripts from all post-secondary institutions you have attended.

  • Mail IconOfficial TOEFL or IELTS results or Pearson Test of English (PTE) results (if applicable)

    Please make arrangements to send your TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE score. Online submission is preferred but CDM will accept paper versions. CDM's TOEFL code is the same as Simon Fraser University's: 0999.
