This 12-week course blends industry insight with hands-on application, guiding you from foundational learning into the creation of a self-directed project based on your own idea or product. In the first phase, you’ll build essential knowledge through case studies, expert perspectives, and applied assignments. In the second, you’ll channel these learnings into your own capstone project, supported by mentorship and feedback.

By the end, you’ll deliver a professional-level plan and presentation that demonstrate your ability to design solutions, manage risk, and communicate with stakeholders—skills that position you to lead digital initiatives and strengthen your career trajectory.

Course Details

Dates: June 1 - August 24 2026
Duration: 12 weeks / Online (90mins)
Course Format: 1.5hrs weekly Zoom session for the first 5 weeks on Tuesdays from 7pm - 8:30pm  

Learners can book time with course facilitator during “office hours” 
Final synchronous session for final presentations

Katie Kwan

With over 25 years of experience across industries spanning telecommunications, digital properties, and video games, Katie has developed a wealth of expertise in collaborating with diverse teams. As a Project Management Professional and Certified Scrum Master, she brings a team-first approach to every project, drawing on her skills as both a facilitator and an educator.

When she’s not delivering projects or teaching, you’ll find Katie at the archery range, building Lego, or playing her favourite video games.

Do I need a project idea before starting?
No. You’ll have the chance to explore ideas during the course. If you do have an existing idea or workplace project, this course will help you structure and advance it.

How much time should I expect to spend each week?
About 7–8 hours per week, including live sessions, independent work, and project development.

Will I get mentorship or feedback on my project?
Yes. You’ll have access to instructor office hours and peer feedback throughout your capstone development.

Is this course online?
Yes. All sessions and assignments are online, making it accessible from anywhere.

Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. Participants earn a certificate from Centre for Digital Media, in partnership with Simon Fraser University and DigiBC.
