Krystina Madej is Visiting Assistant Professor with the School of Literature, Media, and Communication (LMC) at Georgia Tech in Atlanta and Adjunct Professor with the School for Interactive Arts and Technology (SIAT) at Simon Fraser University. Her research focus is how narrative helps structure meaning as it presented in different media. She takes a historical perspective that includes the consideration of user experience and tangible interface in the development of narratives across media. She has recently collaborated with Newton Lee on "Disney Stories: Getting to Digital" (2012) which looks at the development of the Disney narrative from the earliest animated shorts to current MMORPGs.
Previously she co-edited with Dr. Kieran Egan "Engaging Imagination and Developing Creativity" (2010), a collection of articles on Imaginative Education from researchers in six countries. Before returning to academia in 1999, she was principal in a communications and design firm that created successful programs, products, and exhibits for government, business and industry, as well as the non-profit sector. Dr. Madej has a BFA from Concordia, an MA in Professional Writing from Kennesaw State, and a PhD in Digital Narrative from Simon Fraser University.
