The main character in this game is based on a French theatrical character named Ubu Roi (King Ubu), who personifies greed self-gratification. Floating around a kitchen, Ubu attempts to catch falling food to earn points while avoiding potentially fatal falling cutlery. This simple concept and tight scope seemed appropriate for the team given the 48-hour window of the Game Design Jam and given the steep learning curve they faced. The team acknowledges that their biggest challenge was learning the Blender 3D modeling software and game engine - even in spite of their good ideas and strong enthusiasm. However, within the allotted time, the team was able to compile a playable game, complete with a scoring system and soundtrack. They also managed to get some sleep in between sessions.
