Pacific Legal Education and Outreach Society

The Pacific Legal Education and Outreach Society (PLEO) seeks to ensure that arts, culture, and social service non-profits and low-income artists are informed about and empowered to exercise their legal rights and responsibilities under the laws which govern their activities.

Vital to the healthy functioning of our social, economic, cultural, and environmental systems, non-profits are collectively larger than forestry in their contribution to British Columbia’s GDP. Yet most non-profits are relatively small and do not have a pro-active relationship with the laws that govern them, or the resources to access legal services.

PLEO seeks to address this shortfall in knowledge and access through a number of programs administered through its two initiatives, the Artists’ Legal Outreach (ALO) and Law For Non-Profits (LFNP).

PLEO itself is a non-profit society registered under the B.C. Societies Act.
