Irene Mayor is a Full-Stack Software Developer. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Calgary. She concentrated in Human-Computer Interaction and completed the Co-op Internship program at the Agile Surface Engineering Lab.
Irene believes that software should be molded to human beings rather than forcing people to adapt to new technological systems to keep up. People should feel empowered, not inadequate or frustrated, when using technology.
During her undergraduate internship, Irene obtained a versatile set of programming skills from working with a range of technologies such as: augmented reality, motion sensor systems, data analysis tools and web-based data visualization toolkits. Upon graduation, she observed the benefits of good coding practices from refactoring legacy code in a large corporate project.
In the MDM program, Irene aims to further develop her collaborative skills, continue improving her technical skills and dive deeper into exploring the more creative possibilities for programmers. Her goal is to get more involved with story-telling based projects like digital animation, game development and data visualization.
