Ulisses Nascimento D'Ávila

Ulisses

Ulisses is a well-trained programmer]; he began learning computing and C# in high school. After that, he gained his bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science at Rio de Janeiro State University, where he grounded a solid data structure, algorithm and data analysis ability.

From 2011 to 2018, Ulisses not only accumulated his software development skills but also built leadership at JLT (one of the largest insurance companies globally), which let him be distinct from other programmers. He is experienced at communication, pitching and decision-making as he spent 4 years directing the analytics team. As a side activity during that time, due to his passion for game design, he self-taught Unity and took game design courses. In 2019, he left his previous career and joined a professional studio, where he participated in the production of several projects from prototyping to release stages, including non-games such as corporate teaching apps. He also advanced his knowledge through a number of personal projects, one of which winning the local Rio Game Jam Plus 2019 as a team. This award is derived from his contributions to the original concept, game design, programming and pitching the project to the juries. In 2020, given the commercial success of one of his projects, a stylish 2D action game, he opened his own studio (Braindead Broccoli) with a partner. He led the programming and production of the project from concept to release, as well as arranging agreements with publishers and planning a successful crowdfunding campaign.

Ulisses enrolled in MDM program due to his desire to know more about the digital world, and interested in applying his technical skill in teamwork. Not limited to game design, he also longs to develop more creative apps and digital media products. His career goal is to be a product owner and leader in the future.
