AwAIR: An Air Quality App
Back to Projects
Governments, societies, and citizens worldwide have recognized air pollutants as a significant threat to global health—awareness of regional air quality issues is a burgeoning social trend. Organizations which have attempted to bring open raw data into the public spotlight largely, failed to bridge the gap between information and value—specifically in the health sector. As measurement technologies drop in cost – new avenues to help those who suffer from the effects of environmental pollutants emerge. AwAIR is an iPhone application that provides visual real-time information and alerts on local air quality—specifically targeted for those affected by asthma. It will use data collected from air quality sensors throughout Vancouver city to proactively help pollution-sensitive groups better understand air quality in their environments.
