Back to Projects

This summer the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre will unveil a new state of the art ultra high definition 4K video projection system for their full dome theatre. To help usher in a new era in full dome entertainment the Centre has joined forces with a team of student designers and filmmakers from the Master of Digital Media program at the Centre for Digital Media to create a spectacular new 40-minute digital cinematic experience.

The viewer will take a journey exploring sights and sounds from the familiar to the abstract, near to far away—and some very, very far away. The H.R. MacMillan Space Centre has a number of different shows for visitors young and old yet this latest addition to the lineup will be designed for the 17 – 30 year old crowd who are looking for something different—a fresh perspective unavailable anywhere else.

The team from the Centre for Digital Media, have taken on the name of UFO13, and embrace the challenge of creating a full dome immersive experience that aims to take the audience to the ‘edge of reality’ exploring the known and the unknown while encouraging the audience to consider seeing our community, planet and universe from new and unique perspectives.
