Vic was born in a small, quaint town called Port Dickson located in the south of Malaysia, where he'd just be 5 mins walk away from where he lived to the beach. He moved to the US in 2013 to pursue his bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering but he became very interested in computer science during his first job at Disney World and he was able to get an app development project from his manager, developing an attraction failure detection dashboard. Vic eventually made the switch to software development through online resources and learning from the seniors in the company—and he's been a software developer ever since!

Throughout his Master's at CDM, Vic had the opportunity to work in interdisciplinary teams to develop tools, scripts, and content by using Unreal Engine and MAYA. He realized that he really enjoys jumping between the artistic and technical Worlds to materialize creative visions, and it sparked a huge interest in him to pursue a career in the film/VFX industry. Over the last 10 months, he's been developing various cinematic and interactive experiences under tight deadlines and managing sprints to ensure robust products are being delivered timely. Vic used Unreal Engine 4 and 5 extensively to develop custom features/tools such as sequencer management service, scalable dialog systems, dynamic weather controllers, custom shaders for look dev, and pixel streaming. To further support artists and writers in the team, he also created useful python and MEL scripts for MAYA, simple-to-use UE blueprints for procedural generations, and a web-based dialog management app that integrates with Unreal's dialog system.

Before CDM, he had 5 years of work experience as a full-stack engineer building web applications and APIs for companies in various industries (entertainment, consulting, fintech, and e-commerce) using tools such as Vue, React, Node, Python, AWS, Firebase, and Terraform. He has developed and deployed over 10 production-ready applications, with 2 being large-scale applications. Outside of work, you'd most likely find Vic winding down with outdoorsy stuff such as team sports, café hopping, or photography!
