Windy Wen defines herself as an interdisciplinary designer. Motivated by passion and curiosity, Windy loves learning new ideas and technologies as well as adopting different opinions and theories. Her educational experiences have shaped her into a designer well-versed in various game production elements. With a bachelor's degree in industrial design from Emily Carr University of Art+Design, she later achieved an advanced diploma in technical arts from British Columbia Institute of Technology and a Master's degree in Business Administration from Trinity Western University. Guess what, she is still learning, here at the Centre for Digital Media!
During her undergraduate studies, Windy discovered her interest in digital media from a 3D modeling class. She enjoyed the interaction with computers and software so much that she decided to change her design direction toward digital-based projects. In the summer of 2022, Windy joined Electronic Soul (SHA:603258), a Chinese gaming company, as a UI designer to develop the mobile game, Pixie Duel. Windy took care of all 2D designs including logos, banners, textures, etc. With the knowledge from 2D design, Windy now hopes to further her 3D design and programming skills in CDM.
Windy’s energetic and optimistic nature makes her a proactive problem solver. The training in design, game production, and project management has built her a strong foundation of design and teamwork skills. She believes these skills acquired will help her with her studies in CDM and allow her to contribute to the game industry in the future.
Windy speaks fluent English, Chinese (Mandarin), y un poco de español. Outside of work, you may encounter her snowboarding at Whistler. Yes, you can’t keep an adventurous soul still!
