Yie Hua Chee

Yie Hua is a motion designer and 2D generalist with experience in 3D art and visual storytelling.

After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Advertising and Design from the University of Sunderland, she spent her career in the advertising industry connecting stories and people through strategy, research, and visual design. Her professional career began in graphic design with McCann Worldgroup and she moved on to work with various global agencies. Hua's experiences throughout her career have made her adaptable and immensely familiar with the intricacies of project work.

As a creative, Hua constantly strives to create and curate for empowerment. Her academic background in creative strategy greatly nurtured her desire to craft holistic, meaningful, immersive experiences for people. Additionally, her interest in emerging areas of design and technology led her to pursue a graduate degree where she now applies her skills as a visual storyteller outside of traditional media.

Currently, she is part of the Master of Digital Media program at Centre for Digital Media as a visual development lead for XR industry projects, and a 2D generalist at Departure Lounge Inc. She has hopes that her MDM journey will give her the creative space and collaborative environment to work alongside people from different disciplines to tell immersive, impactful stories in an innovative, digital-friendly city.

A big fan of everything in and out of the Adobe Creative Suite, she works often with After Effects, Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, Procreate, Substance Painter, Cinema 4D, Toon Boom Harmony, Blender, and Unreal Engine. Outside the studio, she enjoys learning about sustainability and intersectional feminism. In her spare time, you can find her cat-sitting, thrifting, or curating playlists for every occasion.
