Timbridge – a SaaS platform that builds for the Canadian timber industry
Back to ProjectsThe timber industry is facing increasing operational pressure due to rising costs, tight profit margins, and evolving export regulations. At the same time, many sawmills and wood distributors still rely on fragmented workflows and manual data input within traditional ERP systems. Although production data exists throughout the process, information is often disconnected during grading, yard storage, transportation, and returns, making it difficult to maintain accurate inventory visibility and support real-time decision-making.
Timbridge is a venture project that aims to address these challenges by developing a practical digital platform that improves workflow efficiency and production visibility within existing lumber operations. Rather than replacing current ERP systems, the project focuses on creating a more accessible and user-friendly layer that supports smoother inventory management and semi-automated data input. A key priority in the future is designing workflows that better support floor workers and day-to-day operational needs.
To develop the solution, the team will conduct industry interviews, workflow analysis, competitor research, and iterative user testing with professionals in lumber production and logistics. The project will leverage existing technologies such as cloud-based data synchronization, and web-based management tools to explore practical and scalable solutions.
The anticipated outcome is a functional web-based prototype demonstrating at least one core Timbridge feature related to inventory workflow or production visibility. Depending on development scope and timeline, the project may also expand into a mobile-supported application prototype.
