TaxiCity: Vancouver

Back to Projects

TaxiCity is an award-winning web-based game that uses open data sourced from Vancouver City Hall. In the game, players take on the role of a freelance taxi driver in Vancouver. A mini-map powered by Bing Maps shows the player where to pick-up and deliver fares as they drive through actual Vancouver streets, and the money they earn from customers can be used to customize their cab. As the players progress in the game they will unlock new areas of the city and become more familiar with the geography of the region.

TaxiCity won both second place and 'Best Student app' at the 2010 For The Web (FTW) national coding competition in Montreal.
