Orion

Back to Projects

Team Qilak is tasked with creating an interactive installation at the Vancouver Maritime Museum. The installation teaches kids about celestial navigation and includes Inuit mythology and Inuit navigation techniques as well as several important constellations.

The installation includes projections and novel hardware that allows kids and adults to interact with the night’s sky—focusing on Polaris (the north star) and the big dipper. The interaction implicitly teaches children about simple star navigation.

In addition to the interactive experience, an animated story displays the Inuit myth of the constellation Orion and the Inuit perception of the sky.

Team Qilak is excited to work with Vancouver Maritime Museum.
