Promoting culturally safe healthcare services with First Nations Health Authority

Back to Projects

The project is a collaboration between the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) and Cruffin, a multidisciplinary team of students from the Centre for Digital Media. FNHA, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, established the First Nations-led Primary Care Initiative (FNPCI). One of the main objectives of the FNPCI is to develop new First Nations Primary Health Care Centres (FNPCC) across British Columbia, aiming to improve access to health and wellness services for First Nations communities. The FNPCCs provide healthcare services that are culturally safe and closer to home.

FNHA seeks to promote the FNPCCs on a digital platform. The platform will allow clients to familiarize themselves with the facilities and services offered without the need for physical travel, which often incurs time and travel costs. Team Cruffin will collaborate with FNHA to create an interactive web-based prototype to showcase the physical environment and culturally safe practices at the FNPCCs.
