Meet our Pre-Master of Digital Media Students 2024/2025

The Pre-Master of Digital Media (Pre-MDM) is a Technical Communication program designed for graduate students and future professionals in Digital Media fields. It also incorporates English for Specialized Purposes (ESP) and English for Academic Purposes (EAP) components, training our successful graduates for an easy transition into the Master of Digital Media.

Changhua (Hana) Chen

Changhua (Hana) Chen

I have always desired to work for a company involved in digital media and end up in the game industry. After my training and rapid advancement in the game industry, I moved from a marketing function to a product manager and game designer with multiple skills. I am passionate about innovation in games and all types of digital media, paying attention to the dynamics of the industry and looking for cutting-edge opportunities.

Haohai (Dave) Deng

Haohai (Dave) Deng

I am a Senior Web Developer at MindSea, focusing on web development and mobile app creation. With over 5 years of professional experience, I have been involved in the successful launch of several web and mobile platforms. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Dalhousie University. Alongside my technical career, I am passionate about photography, having explored and captured Canada's national parks through my lens. My work bridges creativity and technology, delivering cutting-edge digital experiences.

Amy Tang

Amy Tang

With a strong background in illustration and animation, I am driven by a passion for creating impactful visual experiences. I am refining my skills while studying at CDM, and exploring deeper into digital design. My ultimate goal is to produce memorable visual works that resonate emotionally with audiences, leaving a lasting impression.

Hao Zhou

Hao Zhou

I joined the Pre-MDM program to develop my skills in creating and editing multimedia content, which is essential in today’s fast-paced digital landscape. I am passionate about storytelling and believe that mastering digital tools will enhance my ability to connect with audiences effectively. Additionally, I am eager to collaborate with like-minded individuals and gain insights from industry professionals to further my career in this dynamic field.

Hanping (Happy) Lin

Hanping (Happy) Lin

I help teams complete projects on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality. With 5 years of experience in project management, I’m skilled at guiding teams and achieving excellent results. I’m passionate about games and have been teaching myself CG illustration, Unity, C#, and C++. I’ve created several game demos—one on my own and one as a team leader—both of which met our goals. My skills enable me to understand team challenges and share the workload effectively.

Shishun (Shune) Feng

Shishun (Shune) Feng

I graduated from Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts majoring in Visual Communication. During my college years, I studied courses such as typography, graphic design, commercial illustration design and brand image design. After graduation, I pursued a major in Game Concept Design and studied courses such as character design and scene design. As a CG designer, I work in 3D modelling for a game company. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to study at CDM. I hope to learn new things and sharpen my communication skills and technical skills by studying and collaborating with excellent students and teachers from different fields.

Yu-Hsuan (Sabrina) Liu

Yu-Hsuan (Sabrina) Liu

With 5 years of project management experience spanning software, technology, and textile industries, I have a deep understanding of product dynamics and business models. My passion for digital media has recently led me to explore software development and user research. This year, I joined the Pre-MDM program to better adapt myself to new cultures while gaining more control and mastery in my professional field. I’m excited to collaborate with teams to create innovative designs that enhance people's daily lives, focusing on solutions that bring both convenience and enjoyment!

Wenting (GT) Ye

Wenting (GT) Ye

I hold a degree in Game Animation, and upon graduating, I stepped into the role of a 5D artist. In this position, I leverage 3D software to enhance my 2D creations, which has allowed me to refine my artistic skills and gain valuable experience in the gaming industry. I am confident that the pre-MDM program will provide me with a solid foundation in language skills while helping me adapt to the workplace culture in Canada. I am also eager to explore diverse and flexible roles in game design through this program.

Yaqin (Sera) Deng

Yaqin (Sera) Deng

I was born in China and lived in Mexico for 12 years. I studied Animation and Digital Arts and later specialized as a Compositing and Lighting Artist at Vancouver Film School. I've been living in Vancouver for two and a half years, but since most of my friends are Chinese and Mexican, I haven't had many opportunities to use English regularly. To improve my communication skills, I enrolled in the Pre-MDM program, which helped me familiarize myself with real projects and enhanced my critical thinking skills.

Yufan (Melody) Zhou

Yufan (Melody) Zhou

I am a UX designer with a strong graphic and communication design background. I am deeply passionate about public welfare, art healing, and psychology, particularly in mental health and autism. I am driven to explore innovative ways to address emotional concerns, such as depression, using gamification techniques to help people find relief and support.

I’m excited to be part of the vibrant and dynamic pre-MDM group, where collaboration and mutual support have empowered me to become more open-minded, creative, and confident in my design approach. I look forward to creating more valuable projects in teams and building stronger collaborations with everyone on future projects.

Chenye (Arya) Shu

Chenye (Arya) Shu

With a strong background in Mathematics, interactive games and marketing, I am not only familiar with technical skills in the digital industry but also good at cross-departmental collaboration and project management. Combining art, technology, humanities, and social research to help improve people’s lives is the ideal way of thinking and acting for me. Looking forward to exploring more possibilities in the digital and gaming industry through my studies at the CDM.
