The Master of Digital Media (MDM) is a professional graduate program for students from around the world looking to build their careers in digital media and technology. Based in Vancouver, Canada, the MDM combines collaborative, project-based learning with hands-on experience working with real-world industry clients. You’ll develop new skills, work across disciplines and build the experience and connections to take your career further.

Who is this program for?

The MDM is designed for people who want to use creative technologies in innovative ways to solve big problems and to nurture their leadership potential. Our students come from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, from project managers, developers, designers, and artists. They are entrepreneurs, creatives, and forward-thinkers who want to forge a path to their dream careers and make an impact on the world.

We accept students from a wide array of backgrounds and stages in life, all having a shared passion for digital media or creating digital products.

Lead your team in design, UX, UI, and branding to help clients solve real-world business, social, or environmental challenges. Enhance your client management skills and inspire teams to move ideas from concepts to digital products.

Push your 2D and 3D art skills and master collaboration with creative and technical people. Inspire and lead your team through compelling concept design, visual storytelling, and digital product development.

Form a team within your cohort and together you will pitch your idea in front of an industry panel, giving you a competitive, real-world experience. Successful teams will have the opportunity to dive into developing their own venture, complete with access to funding, technology accelerators, and mentorship and guidance from industry experts, alumni, and faculty.

Accredited degree with the seal of our four partner institutions: University of British Columbia (UBC), Simon Fraser University (SFU), Emily Carr University of Art + Design, and British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). The seal of all four universities is on the credential and graduates are alumni of all four universities, making MDM a one-of-a-kind master's degree.

Academic Calendar

This professionally focused program begins with foundational courses, leading to career specialization and real-world client or venture project semesters that equip you with employable skills. The final semester is dedicated to supported career exploration, allowing you to pursue a full-time career or professional development opportunities. Throughout the program, you’ll have chances to build your network, attend career workshops and industry tours, and much more.
